Night of Ideas - Facing Our Time - Dream your city / Dream your house

The French Institute in India/Embassy of France is organising 'The Night of Ideas' ('La Nuit des idées') on 31st January 2019.

Every year, the event celebrates the exchange of ideas between countries, cultures, topics and generations, through debates, theatre shows, screenings, concerts and creative philosophical writing. It invites children, students, young adults, adults, scholars, citizens, to share their own interpretation of a chosen theme.

This year, the theme is  Facing our time: Dream your city, Dream your house.

On 31st January 2019, the event will be celebrated at the French Institute in India and the Lycée Français International de Delhi.

On 2nd February, intellectuals, researchers, as well as artists and the general public will gather to express their ideas, and to interpret your ideas in Pondicherry.

In schools, students can drop in a Dream box, their drawings, small words, stories, vidéos, pictures, poems till the 25th of January.  Their messages will be given life through voice, music and movement by the artists, thinkers, poets who will be present at the event.

6:00 pm: Welcome and registration of visitors

 

6:30-7:00 pm: Poetry recitation by students of Lycée Français International of Delhi - Wall of Dreams

 

7:00-7:30 pm: Theatrical dance and video performance by Trimukhi Platform - 1st interpretation - “You feel the flow stopping inside, then starting again, going straight, bending, turning and drawing circles and finally being appeased / it is neither images nor sounds but a rhythm that in moments simulates both at the same time / only then you begin to perceive the city / the village / to dream your house…” - Main Stage

 

7:00-7:30 pm: Students’ slams, followed by award ceremony of the drawing competition - Wall of Dreams

 

7:00-8;00 pm: 1st projection of director Xavier Gayan’s documentary Les poètes sont encore vivants (The poets are still alive), followed by discussion - Gymnasium

 

7:30-8:15 pm: Creative workshop with Stéphanie Orace - Art Classroom

 

8:00-9:00 pm: ‘Our time: city, home, and imagination’, philosophical debate with urban geophilosopher Manola Antonioli and philosopher Shaj Mohan  - Gymnasium
