The Franco-Indian Education Trust

The Franco-Indian Education Trust, a non-profit charitable and educational Trust, is a joint initiative of the Embassy of France in India and Mr Prshant K Lahoti, Managing Trustee of the Krishnakriti Foundation. It was established in August 2017 and was unveiled in March 2018 during the State visit of President Emmanuel Macron to India. The Trust aims at supporting mobility of students, faculty, researchers and young professionals in diverse domains from India to France and vice-versa for any long term or short term training or academic programme. It also aims at providing equal opportunities to women and lower income groups and empower individuals through education. Thus, it offers scholarships to Indian students to pursue their higher studies in France.

1. Bahman Samandari Scholarship Programme

The scholarship is established by Mrs Christine and Mr Kazem Samandari, co-founders of L’Opéra, a high-end Pâtisserie, Boulangerie and Salon de Thé specialised in French products in India.
This scholarship has been endowed to celebrate the memory of Bahman Samandari, who dedicated his life to the promotion of higher academic learning and to spread peace and understanding among people. It is specifically designed for students who wish to pursue higher studies in Culinary Arts in France.
The selected students benefit from a monthly allowance to cover living costs in France, and visa and Campus France fee waivers. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a resident and citizen of India and be at least 18 years of age or above at the time of application. 

2. UGAM Legrand Scholarship Programme

Offered by the French electrical group Legrand, the programme supports the education of Indian students from low-income families and children of martyred armed forces personnel. It was launched in May 2018 with the support of the French Embassy in India.
The scholarship is offered at Master’s level in the field of Management, Science and Engineering.
It covers tuition fees up to 10000 euros, and offers visa and Campus France fee waivers.

3. Shikhar Thales Scholarship Programme

Shikhar Thales Scholarship Program is designed for Indian students who wish to pursue their studies in France at the Master’s degree level. It is specifically designed for students who wish to pursue higher studies in Aerospace, Artificial Intelligence, Communication and Control Systems in France. The applications will be selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as the consistence and quality of the candidate’s statement of purpose. There is no CGPA/ Percentage cut off for the scholarship. Knowledge of French language will be an asset but it is not mandatory.
The scholarship awardees will be provided with a monthly stipend to cover living costs in France, assistance in securing an affordable accommodation, visa and Campus France fee waiver and social security.
