TRANSLATOR'S FACTORY

Professional Translation Workshop

from French to Hindi

                    from 5th November 2020 to 5th July 2021

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The workshop is aimed at students, professors and professionals,

    • of Indian nationality,
    • having a minimum B2/C1 certification in French language,
    • with experience in translation,

Objectives of the workshop :

    • To be identified as a new talent
    • Be part of a community of professional translators
    • Improve your writing skills with a recognized professional translator
    • Get a personal feedback and advice between sessions to develop and update your skills
    • Be certified by the French Institute in India
    • Be selected for a further training in France at the CITL (Centre International de Traduction Littéraire)

Conditions :

    • The training will be conducted by Ms Annie Montaut,
    • in 5 sessions, one every two months, with individual tutoring between two sessions
    • Duration of each session is 3 hours
    • Literary genres: all fiction writings from French to Hindi
    • Project: 2 pages from the book already translated by the applicant (French to Hindi) need to be submitted along with the application.

    • University degree(s)
    • Supporting documents about your translation experience
    • Minimum 2 pages of a translation project of a French title
    • Resumé

Your application will only be considered upon receipt of your supporting documents.

Application deadline: 15 October 2020

Selection will be based on the quality of the project. Each candidate must attentively read the application form where information on his/her professional background will be requested.

Participation fees:

6000 INR payable to the French Institute in India by bank transfer (only for the selected candidates)

  • 3rd session: 5th March
  • 4th session: 5th May
  • 5th session: 5th July

Annie Montaut


Annie Montaut, Emeritus Professor of Universities, teaches Hindi and Linguistics at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO), Paris. Author of several books on Hindi linguistic (Le Hindi, Société de linguistique de Paris, 2012, Hindi Grammar, Lincolm Europa, 2004) and co-author of the Assimil Hindi method, she is also a literary translator (works of Nirmal Verma, Krishna Baldev Vaid, Jainendra Kumar, Anupam Mishra, Alka Saraogi, Kedarnath Singh, Geetanjali Shree) and is working on a book on Indian eco-spirituality.
