Every year, Indian students receive about 500 scholarships in the form of full or partial financial assistance, travel grants and more.
The Franco-Indian Education Trust, a non-profit charitable and educational trust, is a joint initiative of the Embassy of France in India and Mr Prshant K Lahoti, Managing Trustee of the Krishnakriti Foundation. It was established in August 2017 and was unveiled in March 2018 during the State visit of President Emmanuel Macron to India.
The Trust aims to increase mobility between France and India, provide equal opportunities to women and lower income groups and to empower individuals through education. It offers scholarships to Indian students to pursue their higher studies in France.
The Trust currently offers three scholarship programmes:
- Amba-Dalmia Scholarship Programme
- Bahman Samandari Scholarship Programme
- UGAM Legrand Scholarship
- Shikhar Thales Scholarship Programme

Every year, the Office for Academic, Scientific and Educational Cooperation at the French Embassy in India offers scholarships to Indian students undertaking study programmes in French institutions.
The funding is available to support both short-term and long-term programmes in all fields of study and at a variety of academic levels.
The Charpak Scholarship Programme offers three types of funding at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level.

The Raman-Charpak fellowship is a single-phase fellowship scheme that offers PhD research scholars the opportunity to carry out a part of their research work (for three to six months) in a university based in France or India.
The programme provides exposure and experience in current research methods and trends in either countries.

Eiffel scholarship is designed for international students pursuing study programmes in four major fields : Law studies, Economics and management, Engineering sciences and Political sciences.
The scholarship programme funds master’s courses (for 12 to 36 months) and offers funding for PhD students to spend maximum of 12 months in France through joint supervision or a joint direction of thesis (preferably the 2nd year of the PhD).

The French Institute in India, Embassy of France also promotes other scholarship schemes co-financed with private and public, industrial or academic partners in different fields such as:
- The Neemrana Music Foundation in New Delhi and The French Embassy in India jointly offer two scholarships in the field of Western Classical Music for singers and musicians. The scholarships are offered for 1 year and the selected candidates are trained in prestigious French music schools or conservatories.
2. Krishnakriti Foundation and The French Embassy in India offer four joint scholarships in the field of architecture and visual art for students and young artists. The scholarships are offered for 4 to 6 months and the selected candidates are trained in prestigious French art and architecture schools.
The French Embassy in India has also collaborated with different French schools such as: Sciences Po Paris, EDHEC, ESC Rennes, ISAE- MBDA, and IDRAC Business School to provide Indian students scholarships at Master’s level in the field of arts, management and engineering.

Erasmus Mundus Programmes:
Students from all over the world can apply for a full-degree scholarship through an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) or Erasmus+ Programmes. The scholarships are offered at different levels: Master’s, Doctorates, short term study or training programme, teaching programmes etc.
For information on how to apply, requirements and deadlines, the candidates must contact directly the universities coordinating the course of their interest.
Campus Bourses provides information on the scholarships offered to foreign students. The tool lists all of the assistance provided by the States (French and foreign), regional authorities, companies, foundations and institutes of higher education. The students can search for scholarships by nationality, field and level of studies to find the assistance that corresponds to your profile.
Teach English in France
This is a program which offers candidates an opportunity to discover France while teaching English. The candidates should have a good command over English and French in order to apply for the program and then they are ready to explore and choose from the following opportunities such as teach English in France, attend courses in French Universities, discover France etc.
The Travel Grant programme is a financial assistance offered by the French Institute in India to assist students in achieving their endeavour of pursuing higher education in France. The programme is designed for Indian students who are going to France for a study, exchange or internship programme.
The awardees receive a one-way air ticket between India and France; visa and Études en France procedure fee waiver.
